HOW TO READ THE RECORDS

A research tool.
A closer look.

Treat each assessment as a claim to examine alongside its supporting source.

The project uses four categories—Stored, Mobile, Attenuated, and Transition—to organize questions about environmental fate. Evidence status matters alongside the category: supported, unsupported, and insufficient assignments convey different assessments.

Read the record’s review status and supporting material before interpreting an assignment as a final finding. Provisional coding is work in progress; insufficient evidence does not establish that a process is absent.

KEEP THE SOURCE IN VIEW

Evidence first.
Interpretation in context.

The explorer complements the field guide and published research pages. It is a way to inspect the project’s evidence, not a substitute for reading the original publications.
